Debra A. Miller, MD, is a board-certified Bariatric Specialist who is also boarded in Family Medicine. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern and Indiana Universities.
She completed her internship and residency at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis' Clarian Hospitals.
She is the co-founder and medical director of the Mapleton Center for Health, Fitness and Nutrition in Indianapolis Indiana. She is an avid teacher of medical students, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and physician assistants. She is co-founder of the Bethesda Clinical Research Center. She is a regional and national lecturer on the subject of obesity.
Currently, Dr. Miller is participating in clinical trials via Bethesda Clinical Research in numerous areas of interest including hypertension and diabetes.
Her most recent publication is “Childhood Obesity Initiative” which reported clinical data from Camp Mapleton a 2-year childhood obesity initiative completed in cooperation with Ebenezer Institute and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Dr. Miller is a spokesperson for the American Heart Association and has sat on the clinical advisory boards of several pharmaceutical concerns. She has served as a faculty member of the Eli. Lilly Advisory Board. She currently sits on several speakers’ bureaus.
She is the Medical Director of Entrust home health, and recently launched the new Physician Services-at-Your-Door, as she supervises the care to the elderly population via home care.
Her most recent endeavor is the Wellness Crusade, established to educate professional and lay persons alike on the topics of clinical purification, hypertension, depression, weight loss resistance and the metabolic syndrome. Her focus during the crusade was chronic diseases and preventative care for same.
She recently completed lectures for the International Genealogical Society and the Allen County Health Disparity Coalition in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Dr. Miller believes in the sanctity of human life and that the greatest calling of a physician is to preserve the health and integrity of the body, mind and spirit. Her interest in “blended” medicine grew out of a need to address the obesity epidemic. Dr. Miller currently hosts the weekly radio program, “Medically Speaking” on AM1310, and practices integrative medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She is a member of the National Medical Association, Aesculapian Medical Society, The American Society of Bariatric Physicians, Indiana University and Northwestern University Alumni Associations.
She has been interviewed by the Indianapolis Star, and has appeared on innumerable television and radio programs as a guest.
She is married to Duane Miller, Sr. and they have 4 grown children.
